Object Of Desire
This Object Of Desire is the outcome of a research on Villa Muller by Adolf Loos and a fifteenth century bas reliëf by Cristoforo Mantegazza. The object defines itself in between sculpture, architecture and painting.
Beatriz Colomina wrote on the work of Adolf Loos in the book The Split Wall. In the chapter Sexuality and Space she explains how Loos designed stage-like spaces. She describes how Loos often split visual relationships from physical relationships, and that the materiality of the walls form abstract two-dimensional windows in itself.
This work is made for the exhibition MAATWERK/MASSARBEIT. Custom Made Architecture from Flanders and the Netherlands.
The exhibition is curated by Jantje Engels and Marius Grootveld and is a production of Het Vlaams Architectuurinstituut.
8 October 16 – 12 February 17, Deutsches Architekturmuseum, Frankfurt.
